Nuveen LLC \u2013 the dog shit on Cummins\u2019 pavement. Still steaming, still stinking, still pretending it\u2019s perfume. This trillion-dollar parasite calls itself a \u201cresponsible investor\u201d while shovelling millions into Cummins \u2013 the same diesel-belching polluter choking the air and lying through its shiny PR teeth. They love to talk about sustainability, ethics, ESG. Fuck that. They bankroll filth, slap a green sticker on it, and call it progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These bastards aren\u2019t shareholders \u2013 they\u2019re enablers. \u00a3105 million in Cummins stock isn\u2019t a coincidence. It\u2019s a handshake. It\u2019s blood money dressed as stewardship. When Cummins cheats emissions and poisons rivers, Nuveen pockets dividends and grins for the cameras. If that\u2019s ethical investing, then I\u2019m the Pope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

The Preston Hollow Shakedown<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Back in 2019, Nuveen decided competition was beneath them. So they allegedly ran a smear campaign to crush a smaller rival \u2013 Preston Hollow Capital. A Delaware judge literally said they used threats and lies<\/em> to \u201cdestroy\u201d them. You\u2019ve got to be a special kind of corporate thug to get called out like that in court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They eventually settled \u2013 no apology, no shame \u2013 just the usual dance of lawyers and hush money. Their muni-bond boss resigned, probably into another bonus somewhere else. Because at Nuveen, crime doesn\u2019t cost, it pays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

SEC Fines? Just Another Tuesday<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

2024 rolls around and surprise! The SEC nails TIAA-CREF, Nuveen\u2019s saintly parent, for screwing clients with hidden fees and conflicts of interest. Regulation Best Interest? They couldn\u2019t even fake it. They were pushing overpriced crap to fill their own pockets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fine? $2.2 million. Loose change down the back of a leather boardroom chair. They\u2019ve racked up more penalties for record-keeping failures and compliance fuck-ups too. This isn\u2019t negligence. It\u2019s strategy. Break the law, pay the toll, keep rolling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

The Burner Phone Trader<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Meet Lawrence Billimek \u2013 one of Nuveen\u2019s own traders, and a poster boy for how rotten the culture is. Between 2016 and 2022, he ran a \u00a337 million insider trading scheme using burner phones to tip his mate. For six goddamn years. That\u2019s not a bad apple; that\u2019s a forest fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He got seven years in prison, his buddy got a slap, and Nuveen shrugged. How does a scam that obvious go unnoticed that long unless everyone\u2019s too busy counting bonuses to care? Either asleep or complicit \u2013 take your pick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

Greenwashing the Apocalypse<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Nuveen loves a climate pledge. Loves a press release about sustainability. But the numbers don\u2019t lie: \u00a361 billion in fossil fuel investments under the TIAA\/Nuveen banner. That\u2019s not a slip-up \u2013 that\u2019s a business model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hundreds of academics called them out for climate-washing. They waved some paperwork, said \u201cwe\u2019re reviewing,\u201d and carried on torching the planet. They invest in Cummins because Cummins is what they are: a company that pretends to save the world while helping to kill it. Two devils holding hands and calling it ESG.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

Fuck the Shareholders Too<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In 2023, a US appeals court ruled that Nuveen illegally gutted shareholder voting rights. Why? To shut people up. These pricks don\u2019t believe in democracy unless they\u2019re running it. They violated the Investment Company Act, lied about it, and spun the ruling as a \u201cwin for investors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A win for investors? It\u2019s a fucking mugging. They stripped away rights to protect their own control. That\u2019s not management \u2013 that\u2019s dictatorship in pinstripes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

The Ohio Bribery Cloud<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Nuveen wasn\u2019t charged, but it stinks of guilt by proximity. Their big stake in Energy Harbor \u2013 the nuclear spin-off of FirstEnergy \u2013 put them smack in the shadow of Ohio\u2019s \u00a347 million bribery scandal. Same ecosystem, same rot. They didn\u2019t care; they just held their nose and kept the stock until it was sold off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When money\u2019s on the table, Nuveen doesn\u2019t ask where it came from. It\u2019s all just numbers \u2013 dirty, radioactive numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

Rotten to the Core<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Nuveen and Cummins are mirror images \u2013 smug, self-serving, and allergic to accountability. One poisons the air, the other poisons finance. Both hide behind fake virtue and glossy campaigns about \u201cresponsibility.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They don\u2019t fix the world. They fund the filth that breaks it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So yeah, Nuveen – the turd on Cummins\u2019 pavement \u2013 still steaming, still stinking, and still pretending it\u2019s progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
